What made you decide to go into this specialty?

I  find it extremely rewarding when I get to be a part of an individual’s growth and development. As an educator, I  have been able to watch as children overcome obstacles both in their academic learning and social development. My work with parents and children as well as the fact that I    am a parent to two teenagers has truly opened my eyes to the struggles our society faces with identity and self-image. What is protrayed, is often not the complete picture. I believe that within the context of a safe environment and positive, trusting and empathetic relationship, individuals can more easily challenge themselves and begin to address thoughts and feelings that may be impeding their growth and development.
