Hi, I’m Ben Mather, MHR, LPC-IT, Therapist.

What made you decide to go into this specialty?

I first chose to enter the counseling field out of a desire to support individuals with eating disorders, following my own journey to full recovery from an eating disorder. My experiences helped to shape my understanding of how therapy can help untangle the complex emotional, social, and biological factors behind these challenges, while building a more balanced relationship with oneself and one’s body.

I am also passionate about helping clients with OCD, anxiety, depression, and ADHD as they learn to challenge doubts and negative self-judgments that keep them feeling stuck. I view many mental health struggles as protective responses to unhelpful and distorted beliefs formed from lived experiences. It is an incredible privilege to support clients as they challenge harmful beliefs, develop more balanced perspectives, and respond to life’s challenges with greater self-compassion and flexibility.
